Just got a glimpse of Janis' latest tour update. And HEY! Chicago is on the agenda, Thurs May 18th. How about it, Hoosier Rudies? Can anyone say, "ROAD TRIP?"

Marcia :)

I can say road trip....LOL. Tazz and I have been to Chicago before...in fact it is a a special memory for us. About a 6 hour drive...hmmm....was hoping Janis would come closer to Ohio or even Indiana. But you never know. Close to my b-day too...:D

After seeing her in VA Beach (i flew from MN!), I will have to consider this. Chicago is about a 6 hour drive from Minneapolis, but I also see she will be in Wisconsin which may be closer for me. I'll definitely conctact someone if i can go to the "Go". I love Chi-Town, and have many places I could stay there. This is cool, but I still hope she makes it to Mpls again. I believe the last time she may have been with Richie Havens at the Fine Line Music Cafe.

If y'all came just a bit farther north the next day, we could meet you at the concert in Cedarburg! It's just north of Milwaukee which isn't far from Chicago!

HMMMMMM!!

I just checked, and I DO know the area. The Beverly Arts Center is at 111th and Western, and my college roommate used to live just off of 109th and Western! So, diver boy, call ME for directions this time!

Karen, I found a Day's Inn in Alsip, about 4 miles from the venue. It's 64.99 a night for those of us watching our pennies. Let me know if you
(and others) are interested. Would be nice to all stay at the same place. As for Cedarburg, we're thinking.........

The best scenerio for me would be if Mr. Karensews2 would be in Chi. on business, then I could stay for free, AND he would get to say "hi" to Janis himSELF!

ROAD TRIP!!!!!

It would be GREAT to see ya in Chi-town! If I have a few more interested parties (in the Days Inn @ 64.99), I'll get all of you the info and make some reservations. Karen, let us know where you will be staying. You know Rudie get-togethers aren't the same if we aren't all staying at the same place! And we would LOVE meeting "Mr. KarenSews2!" I know he exists because I heard his voice in the background once on the phone! ;)

Randy and Betty, I have a line on a motel or 2 in the Cedarsburg area. Will let ya know shortly.....

Marcia PS Diver Boy....are you in?

Marsha,

This is about as far west as Janis is scheduled so far in 2006.

Now I know what Dar has been whinning about, it sure gets hard
to be so far from where Janis is touring. Especially when the Rudies
are on the road.

Count me in for Chicago. I will wait to hear plans come firm before
I book a hotel but I will get my ticket tomorrow for the show.

ok, i'm getting the bug here...who is gonna be the one to convince me that i must be there cause it simply is a rudie event not to be missed even after 12 hours of driving. I have to be able to convince my boss to so make it good, i would say yes already but when ya gotta prove yourself you need rudie help. call it a family reunion

lol...that might work, except..
A - by the time I get to your house, I could be in Chicago
B - I may be staying for the Wisconsin show(s)
C - you know I'm impulsive and have to have my own mode of transportation

But, it was a nice thought ;)

Okay, can I just say I am so jealous of you guys heading to my old stomping grounds to see Janis shows.

You HAVE GOT TO find a place with Italian beef sandwiches. should be easy, there's probably one on just about every corner in Chicago.
Order it dipped, with sweet peppers. If there's a Portillo's restaurant, I highly HIGHLY recommend it. Great hotdogs too!

Oh wait, I have internet access, let me find the nearest Portillo's.....
AH here it is 4020 W. 95th St in Oaklawn.
According to Mapquest it's less than 5 miles away from the Beverly Center.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, you'll thank me, I promise. Karen, tell them how right I am about good places to eat. ;)

Let me tell you that my first stop on the way from the airport every single time I visit Chicago, is to a Portillo's.

dar, i hear ya...no wonder you are such a food lover! chicago, nyc, baton rouge and sf all the cities of great food in this country. I'm from ny and when i'm not in ny i can't find reasonable pizza or chinese food. and whether they are hoagies, submarines, grinders or whatever...they are all better in THE CITY ( choose one from above)
if i make it to chicago, i'll have a good samich for ya and think of you... we've gotta keep praying for Janis to come to cali!!! maybe she'll do sf and we'll all be blessed with THAT food too.

Haven't had their Italian beef, but I LOVE their hot dogs! We didn't have one near us, but I always went there when I went to a sewing shop in Naperville.

And, NO, Dar will NEVER steer you wrong when it comes to food...and neither will I!! :D

Karen,
check out their website! They've come a long way from the little hot dog shack in Villa Park I used to go to!

and they will FEDEX their beef and hotdogs!! It's expensive, but when the jones hits, it's well worthwhile!!

then of course there is Lou Malnati's pizza loumalnati.com
or 1800LOUTOGO I love FEDEX

First, I wish to say that I do enjoy Portillo's. But, I travel to Chicago often, and my co-workers/boss always want to eat there. When your'e on the road, and trying to maintain your food diet that you practice at home, Portillo's isn't exactly something you want every day. Also, they are all always so busy, city of big shoulders is right, everyone acts like pigs at the trough! Outta' my way, I need my pig intestine casing popsicle! But, yes, CHicago knows how to do a dog, the pizza's OK, but can't compare to NYC. Nevertheless, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, if you like sausages and Italian beef, you have to check it out.:D

[QUOTE=Wildflower Fever] the pizza's OK, but can't compare to NYC. [/QUOTE

Chicago pizza is just WAY different than NYC. I like NYC pizza too, nothing wrong with pizza you fold to eat, but the pizza at Lou Malnati's is a thick but light crust that melts in your mouth, and is simply heavenly.

Cardiff, if you haven't ever been to Wrigley, and you love baseball, you HAVE to go!! Beverly is about 25 miles or so from Wrigley I think, traffic is gonna BLOW because you're gonna be in the heart of rush hour, but you could probably do both. I would, if I were you. If you want a suggestion for a FANTASTIC breakfast place, with the best cinnamon rolls on the planet, let me know. ;)

Ladies, puleeze. Folding pizza? Isn't that called a calzone? And nothing in Chicago or NYC compares with Santarpio's in East Boston (Eastie to the locals).

The nice gal in Cedarburg took my order for two tickets. She wanted to know what Road I live on so she could check to see if I was in her system.

Anyway, as we chatted and she took my order I asked how many seats they had at their venue, "I'm not sure what venue means?" OK how many seats do you have? . . .

Anyway, seats in Cedarburg are only now available in the back rows? So if you plan on making this trip which I hope more Rudies will do, call soon for tickets!
