From the Huffington Post:

"Palin On Fox News: Couric Annoyed Me
Appearing on a friendlier news outlet, Gov. Sarah Palin said she was "annoyed" with the way Katie Couric handled their interview and complained that the CBS Evening News host failed to give her the opportunity to take a proverbial axe to Barack Obama.

In a portion of her sit-down with Fox News correspondent Carl Cameron, Palin claimed that Couric's questions -- which produced a series of staggeringly embarrassing responses -- put her in a lose-lose position."

Methinks the lady had better get out of the kitchen!!

Here's what I heard during the debate:
"nuc-u-lar" instead of "nuclear", just like Bush (about 15 times)
"maverick" (about 15 times)
"you betcha"
"dog gone it"
Anything that ended in "ing" the "g" was dropped
Basically, she tried to overdo the folksy thing to appease "joe six pack", who she also referenced.

I for one don't want to have to bow down to the lowest common denominator, the presidency should be a height that only the best of us can reach. Let the rest of them dig ditches, seriously.
She also only answered about half her questions, and had a hard time showing humility when asked about mistakes she's made, or promises she might not be able to keep.
End result: I saw enough. But it's not as if I needed convincing.

Yep, you betcha, Wildflower! I agree with everything you said, plus she repeated all the lies--excuse me, Half-Truths--that she had been fed to study up on, and evidently believes them. Bless her heart.

I really don't want Josephine Six-Pack for a leader!!

She actually winked at the audience twice....what the heck was that supposed to be about? Trying to be sly about an answer with the audience or another "folksy" thing?

A student that Kathleen works with at her bookstore, who is a Republican, was incensed at this behavior...he said it had no place in a serious political debate...what was she trying to accomplish? I thought that was an interesting reaction from a member of her own party. McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate seems to have shaken this young man's confidence and trust in him as a leader.

I think there's really no need for Tina Fey to satirize Palin in this debate...all ya gotta do is a little editing and let the film roll. She came off as someone doing a very broad charicature of herself.

For those who may be wonderin' how Sarah P. came off as such a "great" debater :(, here are her techniques. (And doesn't she have great appeal to her constituency, the nu-cu-lar families in the USA, bless her heart!)

Am I the only one who gets the feeling she's about to offer "a once in a lifetime opportunity" to sell Amway or something of the sort?

I know Josephine Six-Pack and Sara Palin is certainly no Josephine Six-pack... More like she is a mini- "Carla Roverina" in training.... Now I ask you... would you buy a used car from that woman?

I agree with you all. Sarah Palin is getting annoying, with winks and pat answers, "joe six pack"etc, who is she referring to all the alcoholics that will be voting for her and McCain? I am from New England and have been told I have an annoying accent at times but give me a break she is exaggerating hers and sounds like she is from Canada..(no offense to Canadians)I only hope she will fade into the Alaskan wildnerness where she belongs after Obama gets elected President!!

Actually, Sarah has a perfect Minnesota accent...the interior region of AK was settled by displaced Minnesotans during the great depression.

To be more precise, it's a northern MN accent. I don't know anyone in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that talks like that. You'd also have to throw in a little of the comical exaggeration from the film "Fargo" to come up with Palin's dialect. I'm beginning to wonder if she's planning on investigating some malfeasance from up in Brainerd, and head on down to the Twin Cities to visit Jerry Lungegaard.
You even need a manual to understand the intricacies:

Yes--if you listen to Sarah Palin speak, you can hear what the folks in my neck of the woods would sound life if they'd been to finishing school. Or at least finished high school. I find it hilarious every time she opens her mouth--I certainly wouldn't vote for an Iron Ranger.

As it happens, Josephine Sixpack lives across the street from me. Except that around here, that's Josephine 24pack.

Chet, wonderful SNL clip...Tina Fey really nails JSP!
If there is anyone I like better than Queen L, I can't really think of who it is... except, maybe, U No Whoo!
What fun!

i'm just waiting for her to bring up the latest celestial event that will lead us to the "ever after" if we just follow her lead. I love the SNL video chet, it's almost like they were there. when she said joe six pack i was wondering if she was speaking to my drunken ex brother in law or, the rock head down at the gym...either way, petrified brain matter came into mind. I also felt that if it was possible, which it is not, whe would be speaking down to us...thank God she is not that smart.

Bat - SNL seems to work to a very tight schedule. The VP debate was on Friday, and the skit was on the next show the next night? To be able to get Queen Latifah on such short notice says a lot for the respect the show has. Of course, as soon as it was announced who the moderator would be, I'm sure the SNL team got to work, and decided on the Queen to play the moderator.

BTW, after all these years, Malaysia is finally getting Saturday Night Live! Not on one of our regular Malaysian TV channels, but on cable TV. The first episode airs tomorrow evening (7 October), and I doubt it'll be recent or a particular season, or even in chronological order, but at least we can watch it! We also get Oprah (on the Hallmark channel), Jay Leno (CNBC, the one with the peacock logo) and Ellen (StarWorld channel). The morning (for us) of the VP debate, the Ellen episode with Obama was on, so when I got bored watching the debate, I switched channel and saw him chatting with Ellen.

I agree, as well. And doesn't Tina Fey simply nail her facial expressions and mannerisms? Someone tell me, is this Tina or Sarah?

Some local redneck has a bumper sticker which I have to admit I agree with: "Give me liberty, or I'll get up and get it myself!"

The major feat this election should accomplish is an end to the illusion that government exists to help people or to protect their rights. Listen between the lines of a speech by any of the Fantastic Four and count the number of daily activities in which they propose to assist you or just plain permit you to engage in them. Then ask yourself why they think you need their permission.

Her voice gets to me too. So...now I hit the mute button when she is on only to find out I am an excellent lip reader. A friend of mine uses the closed caption feature when she is on TV. Tried it but that too didn't work - I can't stand even reading what she is saying.
