I can't count the number of medications i've been on over the past 15 or so years...took at least 8 of them to find some that worked. Mental illnesses are quirky enough, but often you can't tell if a med is working for several weeks after starting it. Then there are those lovely side effects, all medications have them. it was discovered a few weeks ago that my sodium was very low. so my psychiatrist wanted to titrate down one of my meds about one third of the dosage... i've just gotten to the point were he wanted me to be, next week i'll have my sodium checked again... but for the last few weeks i have actually felt ( and heard ) my "stability " change. now i'd only been on this med for about 3 months so i NEVER expected these results. I find it very very interesting and just wanted to share my interest with you... oh and i for got to add that my vision has also changed since i started lessening the dose...weird.
...how medications work and how one is affected by them. I take an assortment of medication and have experienced some strange reactions now and then until the dosage or brand are regulated. I often have wondered how each med knows which organ to help and in what way others are affected. My most obvious side effects have been hair loss and weight gain but they are trivial when compared to the alternate effects if I don't take the meds! Amazing what I go through just to stick around and take in another Janis Ian performance!!:p PK

Starfish gland extract, that's the answer, Beth, forget monkeys.
Now, the only trick is to find them. (Er, starfish do HAVE glands?)

if i lost my meds for a day i'd be like a heroine addict after two days without...strange thing is, they take almost no time to mess up my system if i miss a dose but they take weeks to get it back to normal even if i've only missed one dose ewwwwwwww. yucky poo...anyway, Irish Beth, don't try the viagra thing, you might end up in the papers under the headline "One Legged leprechaun Trying to get lucky"
In todays news a woman known only as the one legged leprechaun has been terrorizing the women of PA flailing her prosthesis in the air and yelling "This limb never goes limp!"
j/k beth, but try the starfish stuff first :)

Off to Hampton Beach, NH to search for starfish. Passing on the Viagra idea, from what I hear, it will probably still leave me a little short legged! :p

And don't you just love that you finally get stable on a med and the company decides that they aren't making enough money on it and stop making it! Happenning to me right now. The generic companies are still making it but they might stop too. It would be back to the drawing board after 13 years...
