The number of times I have fallen off a horse went from one time, to three times today. Owwww...
Okay, the falling off was mostly my fault, I was two far forward and when we got to the other side he just shook his head and pulled me forward over his shoulder (twice). That was after cantering over the jump, though, trotting was quite nice actually.
Now how about the three times he "ran away"? First time was him paying attention to the other horses and trying to get me off. The second time was after the trotting over the jump the last time, and he decided since this time he didn't have the opportunity of "pulling" me off he'd get me off another way. The last time, I admit, was genuine surprise when the tractor started off. Never the less, I had enough of a day. I'm exhausted, and very sore, though I just finished a nice bath. I feel like I ate enough mud.
Spotty (him, the pony) and I are the perfect size for each other. However he is still a little green for jumping, so I'm trying to perfect my jumping because too many errors are a great way to fall (as we found out). He canters nicely now, though, which took a bit of work.
Sorry, just a little rant about my riding day. My instructor was at least happy with most of my reactions to him running away, because it didn't frazzle me that much. I got right back on him after falling off, but the instructor knows me well and we went in after the third time when he spooked (walking around first, of course, to cool off).
